Direct TV oval dish self-install

Anyone installed one of the oval dishes themselves? I think the technical name of the dish is the multi-satellite dish. Required for receiving locals in this area.

If you have installed one yourself, how hard was it? The dish requires a 3 axis alignment rather than the 2 axis of the old round dish.

Direct Tv came out and installed mine free of charge. They mounted it right on the front of the house, all I had to pay was 15 buck shipping charges?

I havent tried one of those but have the round ones. The round ones are easy. Mom and dad had the local channels installed on their Direct TV and the guys came out and put up two different dishes. I did have the Dishnetwork one that was one dish. Those guys that put it in didnt take long at all but had a device to check signal strength that resembled a cell phone. The only thing I know to do is have someone inside the house checking the signal strength while you turn the dish. Get on some of the search engines to find out what latitudes you may need to make the job easier. Good luck.

i used to work for dish network...a 2 room install was approx 2-3 hrs...

The guys that did mine took only an hour and a half but there were 3 of them doing the job. Also most of the wires were already run in the house from a direct tv service I had. They said if they had to run all wires it would be a 2 to 3 hour job.

yeah man it was like sex to the ears if we roll up on a job and were told it's already prewired...

you're lucky if you can get the locals on the oval dish. i've had the oval dish for about 3 years now...when locals became available in this area, i had to have another one of the round dishes installed to get wcyb, channel 11, etc.

I've done forgot. I know one was in training and lived in Big Stone. Another was from Lee County and the other guy was a contracter but I dont remember who he where he was from. He drove a 2 wheel drive Dodge pick-up.
